Encore Kids Drama Club: Into to Drama

Do you need a little drama in your life? Collegedale Parks & Recreation is excited to offer children’s Intro to Drama (ages 8-13). Participants will be exposed to oral communication skills, vocal projection, theatrical movement, and stage presence. Registration will open November 1 and close December 13. Commitment to these dates is MANDITORY for registration. Rehearsal Dates: Tuesday, Jan 15 6-7:30pm, Tuesday, Jan 22 6-7:30pm, Tuesday, Jan 29 6-7:30pm, Tuesday, Feb 5 6-7:30pm, Tuesday, Feb 12 6-7:30pm, Tuesday, Feb 19 6-7:30pm, Thursday, Feb 21 6-8pm, Performance Date: Friday, Feb 22 Evening

Fireside Chat

City of Collegedale Parks and Recreation Fireside Chat Storytelling Series kicks off January 4th at 7pm. The first Fridays in January, February and March bring entertainment and storytelling for all ages to Founders Hall at The Commons (located at 4950 Swinyar Drive). The line-up for the series: January 4th- Mike Gray and special guests, Jeffrey and Marcy Paulson will lead the audience on an “Appalachian Winter” exploration through story and song. Mike is producer and host of The River City Sessions radio show on NPR and historical storyteller of Appalachian life. Jeffrey is a Hamilton County educator, storyteller and musician and Marcy is a musician and award-winning singer. February 1st- Local students will share personal poems and stories. Young authors, Heather Marsh and Kassedy Whitener, from our area will speak on their journey to being published. Boston McClarty, a grade school student in Ooltewah and author of “Heroes Are Made”, will talk about his growing series of books that impact NICU babies. March 1st- Retired National Wildlife Ranger Kim DeLozier and author of "Bear in the Backseat" books will entertain us with stories from his experiences as a Ranger in the Great Smoky Mountains. Jack Hanna (who spent his childhood in Knoxville!) wrote, “Kim DeLozier has seen just about everything when it comes to bear antics... [he shares] amazing stories… great pointers about how to safely view animals in the wild.”

Eco Outdoor Explorer

Come discover what it means to be an outdoor explorer! Learn about how different animals in your area affect the environment, and how you can help the world around you. This program is designed to educate children 5-10 years old on different aspects of ecology and environmental science in fun and hands on activities.
